Inaugural Model WHO Conference in Geneva offers global perspectives and enhanced learning for BSG A Levels students

At the British School of Geneva, we are always seeking opportunities to provide our A-Level and Sixth Form students with experiences that enhance their learning and broaden their global perspectives. One such opportunity took place last month when a group of our A-Level Geography students attended the first-ever in-person Global Model WHO conference at the World Health Organization (WHO) Headquarters in Geneva, from October 29 to November 1, 2024.

An Unforgettable Experience at the Model WHO Conference

This prestigious event, organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) in collaboration with the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA), offered our students an unparalleled chance to engage in high-level simulations and discussions focused on global health issues. The conference provided a unique platform for students to collaborate with their peers from around the world, devise solutions to pressing health challenges, and interact with WHO experts.

A Real-World Application of Geography Studies

For our A-Level Geography students, this conference was directly relevant to their studies, particularly for the Geography Unit 4 IAL exam on Disease and Health. By participating in these simulations, students gained valuable insights into the complexities of international health policies and how they are implemented at the global level. This real-world experience enhanced their understanding of key topics and provided a unique perspective on global health challenges.

A Proud Moment for BSG’s A-Level and Sixth Form Students

We are incredibly proud of our A-Level Geography students for their active participation in this spearheading event. Their involvement in such an important global conference reflects the British School of Geneva’s commitment to providing students with an education that goes beyond the classroom, encouraging them to engage with real-world issues and make a difference.

At BSG, we strive to offer our Sixth Form students a well-rounded education that includes academic rigor and opportunities for personal and leadership development. The Model WHO conference is just one example of the enriching experiences that our students have access to, which help shape them into global citizens and future leaders.
